Facilities

Our high quality classrooms are constantly being upgraded. A student recreational lounge is located on Level 8 at the Swanston Street campus.  This area is for students to relax between classes. Kitchen facilities are provided and tables and chairs for studying and eating, as well as for relaxing and conversing with fellow students.   Hales Institute has current equipment in audiovisual technology and resources. Our computer laboratories are equipped with a network of modern computers each having industry standard software and fast DSL internet access.  
Our modern hairdressing salon is located on the ninth floor, which provides our students with everything they require at their fingertips, as well as a great view of Melbourne.
For our hospitality courses, we provide three venues - accredited by the appropriate authorities - where students have their practical training: the Victorian museum catering premises, Hellas Cake Shop in Richmond, and a new complex in South Melbourne, which we proudly opened in June 2008.  With 6 new commercial kitchens that provide training stations for 132 students at any one time and 2 spacious demonstration kitchens, this state-of-art facility is at the forefront of cookery training in Australia. The complex also incorporates a café for students to get training “in the field,” and the Hospitality Department has just launched several operational activities - such as corporate functions - to provide more opportunities for students to gain experience in a variety of settings.  More information can be found in the ‘International Student Information” Booklet 2008.

Location

Hales Institute is located in the heart of Melbourne’s CBD, on busy Swanston Street only minutes away Flinders Street Station – Melbourne’s largest train station – as well as tourist hotspots such as Federation Square, City Square, and the Yarra River.  It is also surrounded by a large number of diverse restaurants, bars and shopping precincts.  It is easily reached by tram and by train.
